Be Creative and Join the KGI Worldwide Design Contest 2009!
K. Gottfried, Inc. invites you to participate in our second annual Worldwide Design Contest. Use your imagination and creativity to design new, original pieces from CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements. For centuries, jewelry has played a huge part in human culture and people still like to surround themselves with beautiful things. CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements in every form, big and small, romantic and extravagant, are turning fashion's wheels, whether as accents for headpieces, shoes, tee shirts, bag charms, cell phones, wedding gowns, accessories or home décor. Feel free to create whatever you like the most and be part of our contest!
What do you need to know before you enter the Worldwide Design Contest?
General rules:
- All submitted designs must be new and original. Designs previously submitted to any other contest cannot be re-submitted to our Worldwide Design Contest. At least 75% of the materials in the design must be CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements.
- There is no limit to the number of entries. You may submit as many designs as you wish, each on a separate Application for Entry.
- If you become one of the semi-finalists you will be asked to send your finished piece to K. Gottfried, Inc. Due to shipping restrictions, we require that a package with a finished piece(s) will not exceed one cubic foot and four pounds in weight. Please make sure that your finished piece is packed safely. K. Gottfried, Inc. cannot be responsible for damage while in transit.
- Employees and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.
Submitting process:
Fill out the Application for Entry (PDF) and email the Application along with two digital photographs of the finished piece (jpg not to exceed 2 MB) to
The deadline for submitting the Applications is December 12th, 2008. Do not send finished pieces at this point.
Choosing semi-finalists:
The jury, composed of a professional photographer, design stylist, marketing director and the owner of the company, will choose the top 50 designs, based on originality, creativity, and complexity of design. The chosen semi-finalists will be notified by email or phone on December 22nd, 2008. All semi-finalists will be asked to send their finished pieces to K. Gottfried, Inc. no later than January 12th, 2009; otherwise it will be assumed they will not continue the contest. Shipping will be charged to K. Gottfried, Inc's UPS account. All semifinalists will also be asked to write up to 100 words about themselves and/or their finished piece.
Choosing finalists:
The finalists will be chosen from the received finished pieces. The voting rights will be divided between the jury and the public. First 50% of voting rights will be the jury and the second 50% will be the public. We would like to give you the opportunity to become a part of our contest and give you the right to vote for the best design.
The public voting will take place in our showroom in Tucson February 3-6th, 2009 during the CREATE YOUR STYLE IN TUCSON A CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements Event. Please plan accordingly to become part of the voting public and come to visit our showroom and judge all displayed designs.
Awards:
1st Place wins a $1,000 K. Gottfried Gift Certificate towards purchases on our website
2nd Place wins a $700 K. Gottfried Gift Certificate towards purchases on our website
3rd Place wins a $500 K. Gottfried Gift Certificate towards purchases on our website
4th Place wins a $100 K. Gottfried Gift Certificate towards purchases on our website
5th Place wins a $100 K. Gottfried Gift Certificate towards purchases on our website
All semi-finalists will receive THE INTERNATIONAL MAGAZINE FOR CRYSTALLIZED™ - SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS
Presentation of the finished pieces:
By entering Worldwide Design Contest, you agree to have your name and design used and displayed in the K. Gottfried, Inc. showroom at various tradeshows in early 2009 and also be shown on our website gallery. By submitting the finished piece, designers agree to allow K. Gottfried, Inc. the right to photograph, publish, and display pieces. All images will remain the property of K. Gottfried, Inc. This also reserves the right to use images of finished pieces in any promotions. Designers may or may not be given credit any time their piece is featured in any promotion by K. Gottfried, Inc.
Last year winner presentation in magazines:
We take great pride in the fact that our contestant designs made it to the pages of a popular magazine. Thanks to great cooperation with people from Interweave Press LLC, Marlene Blessing, Marilyn Koponen, Melinda Barta and many more, our winning designer had her finished pieces published in their magazine.
Look for the Beadwork October/November 2008 issue and see the article named Crystal Brilliance which features Daeng Weaver's Princessa Necklace from our 2007 contest. Her winning design Fall Foliage Flower Bracelet will be featured in the December/January 2009 issue of Beadwork.
THE SUMMARY OF IMPORTANT DATES:
DECEMBER 12, 2008 - Deadline for submitting the Application for Entry along with two digital photographs.
DECEMBER 22, 2008 - Date when all 50 semi-finalists will be notified by email or phone.
JANUARY 12, 2009 - By this date the semi-finalists will be required to submit their finished pieces to K. Gottfried, Inc.
FEBRUARY 3-6, 2009 - Public voting in K. Gottfried's showroom in Tucson during the CREATE YOUR STYLE IN TUCSON A CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements Event
MARCH 1, 2009 - Winners will be announced.
